This 60 feet high monument overlooking Loch Shiel in the highlands of Scotland is none other than the Glenfinnan Monument. Erected in 1815 to commemorate and show a tribute to the clans who fought and died during the historic Jacobite rising. And it’s exactly in this place where Prince Charles Edward Stuart (known as “Bonnie Prince Charlie”) standard was raised.
The monument along with the surrounding mountains together with the loch is an eye-catching landscape and a famous one too.
Shown as a fictional Black Lake near to Hogwarts, Remember seeing them in Harry Potter series as a landscape along the Jacobite train journey?

Wow, the second pic. is too good 🙂 How you manage such long-shots in addition to the close-up shots is beyond me. You walk all the way every time for a photo?

Yes DI. We first did the hike up the hill to get the view, then walked down near to the lake. And it's one if our favourite place. It wasn't that difficult as you think. Also, the first pic was taken during autumn, and the last one during early summer.

There's Jacobite Express that passes through this monument during summer. It's a scenic rail journey too!
