Photo Of The Week: Little Mermaid, Copenhagen

Little Mermaid Copenhagen

The bronze statue of Little Mermaid sits on a rock along Langelinie promenade in Copenhagen. Commissioned in the early 20th century, the statue took inspiration from the famous fairy tale author Hans Christian Andersen. The statue is an iconic symbol of Copenhagen just like Mannikin Pis to Brussels & Statue of Liberty to America.  People flock at the waterfront to take pictures of and with this mermaid sitting by the rock.   Spotted these tiny souvenirs in a shop near by the promenade and couldn’t stop capturing them.

  1. Lovely shot and very interesting story behind these little statues. I am a fan of Hans Christian Andersen's stories. Thanks for sharing this.
