Dubai is a concrete legoland. It is synonymous to superlative glitzy skyscrappers, water theme parks , thralling expat community and huge shopping malls. Or that’s what we expected when we went to Dubai. But our friends broke our skewed image of Dubai and took us to this hidden gem that’s only known to the locals.
Al Mumzar Beach Park is situated on an inlet at the mouth of Khor Al Mumzar across Sharjah. The park has a long stretch of undisturbed white sand beach with blue flag status. The park area is a huge mass of welcoming green space ideal for outdoor activities like walking, jogging, cycling.
The park also has plenty of car park spaces, swimming pool, options for barbeque, camping, play areas for kids. There are toilets and changing rooms. Lifeguards are on duty until 6 pm. The park and beach gets super busy during Fridays and Saturdays. We spend our afternoon picnicking in the park area stretching out in the sun, seeing kids taking a dip in the powdered beach and witnessed gorgeous sunset.
