Whether you’ve just met the love of your life or been married for 50 years, you’ll always enjoy the romance Turkey has to offer. Located on the stunning Mediterranean Sea, surrounded by picturesque Aegean Sea and the majestic Black Sea, Turkey has plenty of beach options as well as architecturally and culturally interesting cities just waiting to be explored. There’s nothing more romantic than strolling arm in arm to some of Turkey’s most popular attractions. The Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and Blue Mosque (Sultan Ahmed Mosque) make Istanbul unmissable — you simply have to take in the culture of Turkey’s largest city. When it’s time to escape the crowds, head to the mountain village of Islamlar, near Kalkan, and wander through the fruit trees and olive groves, or head to one of the country’s many fabulous, white-sand beaches.

There’s entertainment

There’s a reason why newlyweds are flocking to Turkey for their honeymoons these days. Boasting some of the most beautiful beaches across the globe, it’s the place to be to relax with your other half. Head to Beylik cove, Aquarium Bay and Kargı beach for quieter, more romantic shores.

When in Istanbul, stroll arm in arm through the markets during the day, watch a belly dancing or Whirling Dervishes performance at the Hodjapasha Arts & Culture Center and take a boat ride at sunset. Finally, there’s hardly a more romantic sight than flying over the fairy chimneys of Cappadocia in a hot air balloon, an activity all visitors should have on their itinerary.

Wining & Dining

One of the best parts about travelling is tasting the local cuisine. Share a traditional Turkish kebab with your partner or a pre-dinner ‘raki,’ Turkey’s national alcoholic beverage. If on the coast, try the ‘catch of the day’ at one of the numerous seaside restaurants. The seafront eateries of Selimiye, a quaint seaside village just an hour from Marmaris, are particularly picturesque.

Packing: get it right!

Before you board the plane, here are just a few tips on what to pack. The summer months in Turkey can get super hot, so pack lightweight — and lightly coloured clothes and, even if you’re not planning on going to the beach, bring your swimsuit for a dip in one of the traditional Turkish baths. The question of what constitutes ‘respectful attire’ in the mostly Islamic nation is often a worry for visitors. So keep in mind local customs, especially when visiting mosques.

So, for an amazing, culturally-rich and romantic getaway, it’s obvious you have to head to Turkey.

The beach looks good. I guess this historically important country might have many ancient monuments.

Turkey's on my list. We were talking about it a couple of days back.
I hope you are doing well, Anu.

You should definitely plan it Divya. It's an amazing place. When we travelled there few years back, we were confined only to Istanbul, and have always wanted to visit rest of the regions.
